Bena Lulua statuette, Kasai region, DR Congo. Wood. Beautifu - Lot 101
Bena Lulua statuette, Kasai region, DR Congo. Wood. Beautiful representation of a standing female figure of elongated proportions. Slightly oversized head, adorned with a monumental ceremonial headdress ending in a vertical crook. The face shows stylized features: almond-shaped eyes, full lips, straight nose and typical scarification marks on the forehead, cheeks and chin. The neck is long and adorned with a diamond-shaped motif evoking ritual necklaces or scarification marks. Very fine tribal patina. A rare object of great finesse.
