Chinese porcelain vase decorated with "Doucai" figures.
Doucai is a Chinese porcelain painting technique in which certain parts of the design and some outlines of the rest are painted in blue underglaze, then the piece is glazed and fired. The rest of the design is then added in overglazed glazes of different colours and the piece is fired again at a lower temperature of around 850°C to 900°C.
