Lot 233 - Henri ALVIN-CORREA (1876-1910) "War of the Worlds" H.G. Wells, chromotype poster by L. Vandamme & Co, Brussels, 1906. In 1906, Brazilian artist Henrique Alvim Corrêa produced more than 130 illustrations depicting the invasion of London by extraterrestrials for a deluxe edition of H.G. Wells' book "War of the Worlds" published in Belgium in just 500 copies. Alvim Corrêa had arrived in Paris in 1894 to study art, and after getting married he moved to Brussels in 1900 to open his studio, where he drew these illustrations with the personal agreement of H.G. Wells.
