Marcel CARON (1890-1961) ‘ Un dimanche après-midi’ Large expressionist oil on canvas, signed and dated 1925.

Lot 201 - Marcel CARON (1890-1961) ‘Un dimanche après-midi’ Large expressionist oil on canvas, signed and dated 1925. Marcel Caron began his career under the patronage of his father, himself a painter, who introduced him to the techniques of Impressionism in the style of the Barbizon School. However, his style quickly evolved towards Expressionism in the 1920s, mainly under the influence of Flemish Expressionists such as Frits Van den Berghe and Constant Permeke. It was during this period that he exhibited at the famous Galerie Le Centaure in Brussels. After a very fruitful period, the artist ceased all activity in the early thirties to devote himself entirely to interior decoration. During this period, which lasted almost 15 years, he concentrated solely on his professional activities as an interior decorator. During this period, he also created sculptures. It wasn't until the outbreak of the Second World War that he took up his brushes again, still searching for his own style and devoting himself to still life and landscape painting. Later, he shifted towards abstraction and worked in this genre until the end of his career. From a private collection, normal wear.
