Thomas Edison's electric pen, part of a complete system for duplicating documents and handwritten drawings, was the first electrically powered office machine produced and sold in the United States. The electric pen was the key element of a complete duplication system, which included the pen, a cast-iron stand with a wooden insert, the cast-iron base is enamelled with gold-plated accents, the gilding was then repainted. Normal wear and tear, in working order.
